The Strobe Session #1: March 20th, 2008

Strobe kicked off the 2008 Strobe Sessions (click here and FAQ on the Strobe Sessions) with two great performances by Tomorrow Music Orchestra and Via Tania .   We were very honored to have as our first performance for the series the Tomorrow Music Orchestra which is conducted by Matthew Golombisky.   Tomorrow Music Orchestra (TMO) is a group of composers and musicians who are experimenting with the idea that music's really fun while exploring its ability to relate to wide-ranging audience.   TMO often consists of flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, bassist, alto & soprano saxophones, French horn, vibes, oboe, accordion, guitar, and drums.   The orchestra played a wonderful 5 song set which was well received by our live audience.

Our second act was the wonderful group Via Tania ( www.viatania.com ) that is led by the captivating Tania Bowers'.   Tania's vocal prowess and electric and tenor guitar arrangements captured the audience and lead to a great live performance.   Backed by Charles Rumback (Colorists) on drums and Liz Payne (Town and Country) on upright bass/piano the group transcended Tania's vocal and guitar lines into an ebb and flow of music dynamics and tensions.   Via Tania is a great band and look for them at your local club in the near future!
