Strobe Recording Owner, Producer and Head Engineer. James (or Jamie) Wagner has been an audio engineer, producer and studio owner in Chicago since the early 1990’s. James Wagner’s first audio studio (Argyle Sound) was located in the Lincoln Square Neighbourhood from 1994 – 2003. This studio was an ADAT based studio with analog outboard gear and a Sprit by Soundcraft 32 x 8 board. James Wagner moved into Strobe Recording (2631 W. Division St.) in April of 2004. Strobe Recording is a full production audio and video production studio offering 24 track (2 inch) and 2 track (1/2 inch) analog as well as Pro Tools HD system. James has engineered and produced a wide assortment of Chicago’s music and performance scenes ranging from free open jazz to full rock/pop projects. James graduated from Northwestern, University in 1994 with a major in Economics and minor in Computer Studies.
John Schramm, a Chicago native, found the door to opportunity at Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy. Graduating in 2014 with a degree in Recording Arts, John continues polishing his skills in Mixing and Mastering as well as musicianship and electronic music production. Involved in music from an early age, he began his early years of high school recording and making beats for local hip hop talent. John is a music producer and recording artist who is proficient on many different software platforms such as Protools HD, Ableton Live and Logic studio. His experience as a producer and DJ has allowed him to collaborate with many local artists and recording for acts such as 10,000 Lightyears, Tired Eyes, The Reunion, Empire State Express, My Magic Shoe’s, and The Suppliers. Recently hired at Strobe Recording Studio as Staff Engineer, clients from all genres will find his skills crucial to their project.
Hannah coordinates Strobe Songwriter Showcases, Educational Clinics & Workshops, plus photo and video shoots, all of which make use of the great live room and facility which Strobe offers. In addition, she helps with Strobe Sessions promotion and offers music marketing services to musicians. A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she has over twelve years experience mixing as a FOH Engineer working with live bands, local venues and musicians.
